Had a conversation with a potential client recently.
Heโs like, โRoger, Iโm talking to a big-name firm.โ
I said, โAwesome. But let me askโwhere are you at in the decision process? Whatโs gonna be your criteria?โ
He was a little thrown off, expecting the typical sales pitch.
But instead, I hit him with this:
“Let me help you make the right call. Ask these 7 questions to any advisor youโre considering. If they canโt give you ๐ฏ๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ-๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, keep moving.”
1.ย Who is this person? Whatโs their story?
2. What do they actually do? Are they specialized or just generalists?
3. Whatโs their mindset on money management?
4 How do they get results? Whatโs the process?
5. Who do they work with? Are you their typical client?
6. What makes them different? Seriously, what sets them apart?
7. Howโs working with them gonna benefit you? Whatโs the real value?
Told him, โThese arenโt just for show. This is about YOUR future. Challenge us. You deserve advisors who can step up and deliver.โ
He took the questions and came back later saying, โRoger, I asked the other firmโthey were okay, but youโre the one actually dialed in.โ
Bottom line: If youโre making a big decision, get the answers you need to feel 100% confident.
In my next post, Iโll share my own answers to these 7 questions. Stay tunedโitโs gonna be good.
